Oh! Calcutta is a restaurant in Tardeo, Mumbai serving biryani, Bengali and seafood. Known for biryani and Indian mains; ideal for family meals and group outings.

We had gone here for a family lunch. We had high expectations from this restaurant and they did not disappoint. For starters we had Tengra chilli paneer, Mochar chop, Calcutta Bhetki fsh fry, Prawn cutlet and Kakra chingri Bhaapa. Each one was delicious ??. Then for mains we had Rajbarir chanar kofta(sweet side) with Luchis, khulna chingri (was recommended over daab chingri), Chittol macher Muitha (slightly spicy), Chicken chaap and Chicken Biryani. All items were good and our favourite was Chicken chaap and Chicken Biryani. The bill for 6 people came around ₹6000 and after our Swiggy dineout discount of 25% it was ₹4800, so around 800 per person

It's a walking distance from Mumbai Central Railway Station. Tucked in a bylane behind the Parsi Colony, and close to the old RTO Office.
For a family lunch, we tried several starters - all fish starters were excellent. Main course, we again tried almost all their fish dishes and each one was lip-smacking.
Food was awesome, service was excellent and ambience was sombre.
One star less been given only for the prices, that could be more pocket-friendly.

Tried Bhetki fish fry with mustard sauce, Chilli chicken, with mains as prawn curry with steamed rice. Good food at reasonable price.

Service was the best ? Ask for Ashok sir and he will give super ? service

This was my second visit to this Bengali fine dine restaurant, and the experience was again underwhelming. The food quality is just okayish, and certainly not aligned with the high prices they charge. What felt unacceptable was the waiter abruptly opening a ₹155 per litre water bottle without asking, even before I finished ordering—giving a clear sense of taking advantage.

Overall, the restaurant offers poor value for money. For okayish Bengali food in Mumbai, there are better and more reasonably priced options available on Zomato. At this pricing, the fine-dining experience is simply not justified given the average quality of food served.

Thanks for the suggestion of vegetables floating somewhere beneath the lake of oil I ordered. Seriously - why does a curry need this much grease? I’m all for rich Indian food, but this crossed the line from indulgent to downright exhausting. The flavours themselves weren’t bad, which honestly makes it more frustrating, because the overwhelming oiliness completely smothered anything enjoyable. Hard pass.

PS Have posted picture of Paneer Dhaba. Other dishes went through the same ordeal. Hands were too greasy to click more pics!

The food is average at best. But the prices are on the expensive side. They don’t allow discounts through Swiggy for Thalis, the rules are not written upfront on Swiggy, so be cautious while booking.

Being a Bengali, I truly feel sad for the lack of Bengali food in Mumbai. Both the Oh Calcutta offers average food at much expensive price. My recommendation would be to skip.

I went with my Bengali friend who said that the taste wasn't exactly authentic as available in Kolkata probably due to the difference in ingredients procurement however the food was great a bit pricey but worth it. We ordered raw banana flower cutlet, then kishmish dry fruits pulav rice along with banana kofta, the aam pora was super delicious just didn't like the dessert of mishti doi at all.

We experienced it at Oh! Calcutta. We ordered Pressure Cooker Mutton, chicken biryani and Luchi and two mocktails, Watermelon+Basil and Aam Pora Shorbat.

In total we paid +2700₹.

Overall the taste of the food was good, but quality and quantity must have been better.

We have eaten at Leopold cafe, Mirchi and Mime, Ranjit da Dhaba and so on. Mentioning this so that you know we have already considered the level of the restaurant and speaking only after analysing that.

So here is my story. After finishing our meal, we were given a feedback form in which I gave mixed reviews according to the food and services provided.

In specific, I mentioned that the quantity of the food should be increased according to the price.
But this was never a problem untill the manager came to us cross questioning why we gave an average feedback. And on top of that he started to argue and tried to make us seem small that we only ordered items for ₹2700+ (Seems as if he was not ready for any suggestions at all and wanted us to order food for ₹5000 or more).

When we gave this feedback, he said that this is normal.

I don't have a problem whether this is normal or not or whether you choose to give that much quantity in this price.

But the main problem was they are just arrogant and ignorant to guests satisfaction. They think that they deserve 5star irrespective of their service or food and only a fool would give them a lower rating.

Lastly they took additional Service Charge which is not legal to take on the bill and is completely optional however they are taking it from everyone. Bill is attached for the reference.

So, for us, it was the first and last time there. Wish you all a better experience than mine.
