India has come under the onslaught of chain restaurants arriving from foreign lands and many well-known culinary brands have made way to the Indian shores in hopes of expansion, which the country is ripe for. The recent arrival on the Indian dining scene is ‘PizzaExpress’, which started its way in London in the swinging 60s. Though they deal mainly in pizzas the place operates as a proper sit-down restaurant experience. Known for its feel good vibe, the restaurant presents a wonderful array of pizzas from all across the globe. Their gourmet pizzas are immensely popular with all kinds of patrons including families, corporates and foodies. Even Mumbai has gained an outlet for its posh Colaba locality at Dhanraj Mahal. It’s a good option to grab a bite for somewhat reasonable prices.
PizzaExpress offers exactly what its name suggests and so much more. Their menu is fully Italian giving special attention to the pizzas, which comes in several gourmet toppings. There is an extensive selection of pastas that can prove to be a pretty interesting choice. Munch on the delicious starters with the help of some refreshing signature cocktails. Hawaiian tikki is a good option. To eat nibble on, lamb polpette, spiedini di pollo, bruschetta originale, baked mushrooms, gambaretti piccante, dough ball doppio, rosemary pizza bread, Ramiro al forno, bruschetta con funghi, mozzarella & tomato salad and pumpkin & mint dip with dough balls. Fill yourself up with mains like, pollo lasagne, farfalle con salsiccia, risotto mio, linguine alla Genovese, penne siciliana, linguine Cajun gambero and cannelloni. Personalize your pizzas with toppings like, calabrese, soho, funghi di bosco, pollo ad astra, formaggi, etna and cipolla piccante.
Their desserts are just as innovative as their gourmet pizzas. Do try, dough balls with Nutella, cheesecake, blueberry semi freddo, tiramisu, raspberry sorbet, real Italian gelato, banoffee pie and chocolate fudge cake. PizzaExpress is spread across two floors and is designed like a modern day pizzeria. Black and white chequered floors runs across the room emphasising the Italian background. The pale coloured walls are mainly left bare except for a row of modern photographs. Lamps are contemporary in look too and washes each table in soft white glow. The ambience is chic, casual and attractive. PizzaExpress is not very heavy on pockets and is pretty reasonable for a city like Mumbai.
