Dhaba Estd 1986 Delhi is located in Shivaji Nagar, Pune is a funky Dhaba with colourful and vibrant interiors and funny quotes written all over the walls of the Dhaba. The presentation of the food has a rustic appearance of the ‘highway Dhabas’ and is very appealing. Not to mention that the food is really tasty and satiates your palate to the core. The dishes are inspired by the Punjabi cuisine mostly like ‘Amritsari Kukkad’, a Punjabi ‘Pind Wali Dal Tadka’ and ‘Punjabi Kadhai Jheenga’. Ask the server to moderate the amount of spiciness according to your palate.
We have just stayed at riad carina for three nights and we had an amazing experience. The staff are so friendly and respectful and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious, as was the dinner! The terrace was brilliant for catching some rays and relaxing after a long day exploring the souks and tourist sights. Our room was very clean and comfortable, as well as peaceful - a real oasis of calm. Would highly recommend to anyone who has never been to Morocco before or wangs to visit again!
Mostly it was good - the room was a decent size and clean. Breakfast included, centrally located if you don't mind the short walk down the back alley to get there. Bathroom amenities were slightly questionable - not separate shampoo / shower gel / soap etc - just one big bottle I assume was to be used for everything. The one thing that let it down for us was one of the ladies working on reception. For the most part, the staff were lovely, but one lady in particular (who was mostly behind the desk) came across as very rude and dismissive at times and was very aggressive about when we were to pay our bill, which made us feel like we were being treated a bit like criminals...
First time in Morroco and how lucky that we found this lovely Riad Carina. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Remember to order the very nice local dinner for at least one night of your stay. We also had a very good hammam massage in the Riad. Location is perfect if you want to experience the Medina and the souks, you are actually only 100 meters away from restaurants and souks and still it is very quiet at the Riad. We will for sure come back to Riad Carina again.
The Riad Carina is situated on the edge of the Medina in the Kasbah area near the Badia Palace and very close to the Bahia Palace which we would recommend a visit to. We arranged a return taxi through booking.com Rideways and found them to be very efficient and reliable and this way you know someone will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to the Riad. They phoned ahead to let the Riad know we were on our way and they greeted us at the door. We were welcomed with mint tea & homemade biscuits. We stayed for three nights as a family with our adult children, and both the rooms were beautifully decorated in traditional Moroccan style, and we had our own private seating area on the small terrace. I would highly recommend a walking tour of the city which we had pre-booked for our first full day. I was celebrating my birthday and our guide greeted us with a birthday cake which was a very unexpected treat! The Riad is beautifully kept and there are plenty of areas to relax away from the bustle of the main square which is in walking distance. The staff are what makes this Riad so lovely. Very welcoming and hospitable. Breakfast was slightly different each day: Freshly squeezed orange juice, olives, tomatoes/cucumber one day and banana & oranges another. Fresh baked cakes by Aziza the chef. Pancakes & bread with jams & butter. Plenty to get you ready for your day in the city. As it was January when we visited we did not get to use the pool on the rooftop - but it looks very nice and would be a lovely way to cool off in the summer months. My husband & I decided to try the Hammam - we had never had one before. It feels a bit strange at first, being washed and scrubbed, but you soon relax and come out feeling so clean. I would recommend this as a couple or friends together. Our shower in the room was quite powerful but the shower in our daughters room not so, not a big problem - they just came and used our shower when they wanted to wash their hair. The shower curtains could be a bit bigger to get a bit more privacy - but that is just a small comment to make. All in all I would highly recommend this Riad for your stay in Marrakech - it is very reasonable priced and in a good location We would recommend the following bars & restaurants that serve beer & wine: Zwin, Zwin Cafe, Terrace des Epices, Kosybar, Le Tanjia (Lit up with pink lights) all within close proximity Also, Dar Zellij - take a taxi (100 Dirhams) and they came to meet us as you have to walk down a small street to get there, go to the roof terrace for drinks before your meal. PepeNero - also down some small streets and at the end of a cul-de-sac - Salmon Tartar & Chicken tagine a good choice You must visit Le Jardins Majorelle - truly a photographers dream, stunning colours of Blue, yellow & white and the Yves Saint Laurent Musee - a small museum but beautifully arranged. - buy a combined ticket (although we didn't visit the Berber Museum) The Souks are a maze and you will probably get a bit lost, but you are never far from the main square Jemaa El Fnaa - make sure you barter with the sellers. As a general rule what ever they ask for, cut it down to a third of the price and negotiate in the middle! We sometimes just walked away and was always called back and eventually agreed a fair price so both seller & buyer were happy! We enjoyed our trip to Marrakech - You will find this city is an assault on your senses. The hustle & bustle, the wonder of how the old/new combine so easily together, the aromas of spices and daily life played out in the square - all truly a magical experience!
Riad Carina was our first stop during our travels through Morocco. We felt welcomed the minute we walked through the door. The place can be hard to find but if you give them a call, they will come and get you. the Riad is within walking distance of all major attractions and the square. The rooftop pool was also amazing! I would definitely recommend this Riad.
