Colourful lanterns hanging from the ceiling, spaced-out seating, creative cocktails, and a beautiful choice of authentic recipes handpicked from the corners of Asia, including countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea – that is Malaka for you. You cannot help but notice the eye for detail in every dish here, be it the top hats (which are these dainty rice cups packed with a filling of smoked duck, herbs and sprouts), the zesty firecracker prawns (which are indeed a firecracker of a starter), or the Pho Chiru (a concoction of simmered mutton slivers coupled with aromatics such as cinnamon sticks and star anise among others, topped with crispy noodles). For main course, we would recommend the rich and velvety kari kapitan, which is laden with myriad delicate flavours and best had with their flaky, buttery garlic roti canai. Wash this down with a refreshing watermelon martini.
We order thai curry and rice and the food was average. Also the price was very expensive for that quality of food.
Malaka Spice is one of the perfect restaurant with great ambience, blended music, good food and minimal decor. The staff are friendly and service is fast. Food is good and even though the portion maybe small, the dishes are really well done. They occasionally will throw in some discount for corporates so one should always check while booking. Parking space is limited and one may occasionally have to look around nearby. The roadside lighting by Pune Municipality is poor so watch your feet while leaving. Always a great place to visit.
The food here is just fantastic and the service excellent. They follower a farm to fork policy and food is delicious. We ate momo both veg and chicken and some main course dishes. The decor is quirky and electic. They also have a small gift shop to pick up souvenirs.
consistently shown same quality and there are visitors who patronise the place again n again...located quite prominently though in the lane end but street parking makes it convenient to enjoy the meals
Malaka Spice(MS) is quite special to us, as the blend of food, the ambience and the service has made this place, a frequent visit for us! It’s sort of a ritual for us to visit MS with anyone who’s paying us a visit. This restaurant has both an air conditioned space as well an open one. The open space gives a courtyard ambience and is vibrant and quite lively! MS decorates the outdoor seating area really well. It’s advised to make a prior appointment for the dinner on weekends which sees lot of rush. MS also has a good valet service. The most popular dish for us always remains the fire cracker prawns, Thai lamb chops, butter garlic prawns apart from the Thai curries. The spread of the menu is impressive and the taste authentic. The Tom Yum prawn soup is my fav one, closely followed by the Tom Kha. Go for the Fire Cracker prawns and also if you love dumplings you will not be disappointed with Hawker Prawns Dumplings. Prawn remains my fav pick over chicken any day. In the main course we most often go for the Malaka Vietnam Topaz curry. We usually stick to the SE Asian curries and not tried the Mamak inspired ones. In rice highly recommended is the Malaka Herb rice and ask them to toss it with sea food or chicken. In noodles go for the Singapore Chilly noodles if you like the spicy note. Apart from the outstanding food, the immaculate service is a highlight of MS. The waiters are prompt and attentive and the food comes to your table in the right interval. We haven’t found any discrepancies in their service in the last many years we are coming here. The staff at MS are polite, proactive and knows their job. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a restaurant having delectable SE Asian cuisine and a great service!
