Payatha located outside the Jadhavgadh fort is a deceptive ethnic restaurant. With a locally designed ambiance, live music and fort view, it seems really authentic until you taste the food. We found the Lunch spread to be better than the Dinner spread here. The buffet served here is not very good. All food items from starters, main course, desserts and even the live counters are below par. I expected the Maharashtrian cuisine to be better than this. The price for buffet is Rs. 1000 per person, which is too steep for such poor quality of food. Even the breakfast here was disappointing. I hope the management takes the general public consensus seriously and improve on their food as poor food quality was the reason for us not extending our stay.
It's where we had breakfast during our stay at Jadhavgadh. Very good ambience, open air and surprisingly good view, weather and excellent service. We wanted to try the buffet but later opted for the Chajja. The breakfast had chole, bhature, vada, idli, dosa counter, juices, fresh fruit, cornflakes, eggs counter, upma, muffins, chocolate eclair, tea, coffee. And service with a smile always. Excellent experience.
Recently our family transported ourselves 300 years back in time and stayed at the Jhadavgarh Fort hotel. The fort was magnificent and the Maharaja suite splendid!! My birthday dinner at the foothill restaurant,'payatha' left a lot to be desired. It was a buffet which we in great anticipation commenced but were very disappointed. The soups, salads were uninteresting. The mains were poor! The basa fish curry with no flavour, chicken tasteless. The vegetables spiced up and oily! All in all a disappointing buffet. Lacked variety, effort, local flavours! One expects a far better standard of food when one is paying 5 star accomodation rates. The rating is for the location, which is against the fort tall stone walls which were nicely lit.
