Indian food can be a beautiful thing to enjoy if done right. The cuisine has a warm comforting quality that shows through the balanced use of spices and working with the simplest of ingredients and turning them into something spectacular. It’s a myth that to enjoy the delights of Indian cuisine one has to look at the humblest of places, the fancy expensive establishments too can do a good job of representing the cuisine. Solidifying the theory is ‘Riwaz’, a stunning fine dining restaurant to have excelled into the subtle art of Indian cooking. The restaurant is housed under the posh Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Residency Road in Bengaluru and could be an excellent place to take someone important for wine and dine. If you happen to have a foreign guest visiting then Riwaz can be a wonderful place to show them the culinary delights of India.
The menu of Riwaz is a celebration of Indian cooking. The chef has fun with the ingredients and tries to portray them in a refreshing innovative manner and still keep the traditional integrity of the cuisine. The word ‘Riwaz’ means tradition and it captures the soul of traditional Indian cuisine through its cooking. This is luxury fine dining at its best. Ask the server for a glass of your favorite drink or an Indian-inspired cocktail to kickstart the menu. Open with, ghost ke parche, palak ki shammi, murgh malai roll, dahi singhdane ki tikki, chopan kebab and sarson ke phool. Pair a baked kulcha or a subz dum biryani to polish off the curries. Enjoy, paneer akbari, lobster masala, Baluchi raan, aloo sialkoti, kadhai gosht hussainy and jheenge ka salan.
Appetizers are grand enough to tempt you into filling your appetite but save some space for the main course too. Final sweet course is a smorgasbord of rich, exquisite desserts fit for a king. Coddle your sweet tooth with, gulab jamun, assiette of baked yoghurts, malpua with rabri, kulfi falooda, homemade ice creams or have something western like, warm Belgian chocolate & mango pudding, anise cake. When you first step into Riwaz, the sight would be breath-taking. A classic elegantly designed room built along the contemporary lines and still staying true to the traditional heritage of India. Definitely expensive but certainly worth it.
