Cheerfully convivial, Colony best captures this Raintree’s leisure proposition, merging from the bright coffee shop to a relaxed dining area – a welcome change from its loud, cafeteria-like brethren on Anna Salai (it is Raintree’s business hotel after all).Unless part of your stay, skip the buffet and go for some gems in the À la carte menu – Chennai pattinam is plateful of the Bay of Bengal’s bounty, a crisp platter of local seafood. Although part of the platter, you might want to order a second round of the juicy prawns pollichathu – the banana-leaf-steamed shrimps are sizeable and thankfully, they do not overdo the masala. The tiramisu and cheesecakes are unspectacular, but indulgent; experiment with the glocal vattapalam brûlèe.
Well we were staying at the Raintree and even we didnt know there was a buffet lunch. A range of soups and chaat to start. A fantastic selection of main dishes both meat and vegetarian, mainly Indian but some international. Chef was on hand to explain the dishes (dietary restrictions could easily be discussed if required) his English was good. Breads could be cooked if you wanted (dosas are really excellent). Good salad selection too. Nice spread of desserts and ice creams. A pretty, air conditioned setting for a sunday lunch. Not cheap at +/- 1500 INR but really worth it for a relaxed lunch.
Had been to Colony today for a friend's surprise birthday celebration. Food was tasty & the staff were friendly & obliging. But the service was extremely bad. It took ages for the ordered items to appear!
Variety of food on offer at the buffet was a lot. Staff was very attentive and also helpful in describing and explaining what food items were on offer. Food was scrumptious.
great spread out in break fast and dinner with choice of juices ice creams desserts soups chicken items panner items
Every meal we had here was very good. We had buffet as well as order from the menu. They were equally good.
