Full marks for the complementary namesake aside, Focaccia at Hyatt regency delivers legitimate, if somewhat predictable, selection of Italian classics. The vibe is casual and the Saturday brunch is great for frolicking around, with prosecco in hand. The tenderloin carpaccio is easily the best in the city, and the homemade beetroot ravioli, gnocchi in lamb ragout are very comforting. Skip the underwhelming chocolate salami for a timeless tiramisu.
Being part of a 5 Stars International Hotel and reading some reviews my expectations where quite high, i need to say that my experience at Focaccia definitely exceeded my expectations, the open kitchen, the décor are great, the service is up to those standards the Italian "Celebrity" Chef (Mauro Ferrari) is a perfectionist and very hands on and you see it when you receive your dish, fresh ingredients, very well presented, the menu has a large choice of Veg, Fish and Meat courses, the Risotto with Lobster is one of the best i ever tried and also the pizza is very good. Ratio quality / price is more than reasonable. I will be going to Focaccia as much as i can, well done guys, Bravissimo Mauro
Went there for lunch with my husband and friends after being recommended by friends that foccaccio is the best Italian in Chennai!well we were very disappointed, we chose the business lunch menu, Mediocre portion, pasta was very dry, I ordered the chicken crumbe and it came like a kids chicken and chips menus! Frozen cooked chips about 8 pieces a small chicken crumb rock hard with a small bowl of mayo!!!! Nothing Italian about the dish! Our friends had the fish and they said it had a very strong fishy taste like it wasn't fresh.... The only highlight was the tiramitsu for desert which was very nice but again a very small portion two spoonfull size! I asked if I can speak to the Italian chef and I was told that his is out of Chennai for the moment so not sure if the food quality is the same when is is around!!
We stayed at the GRT Grand and this was almost across the way. Decor is better than the food. My wife had pizza and soup and I had a bowl of very mediocre pasta. The pizza was nothing special. With 2 soft drinks US$50.00. Really in India? Even if it was the Hyatt. If it was great I would not have cared but it was pretty mediocre. What you might get at a diner in the US. The food at our hotel was superior.Try somewhere else.
I have hard time adapting to Indian food. This was the best escape for me while in Chennai. Had dinner everyday in this restaurant. Food is great. Lots of taste and great variety.
Excellent authentic Italian menu with plenty of originality from the Italian chef. Great attention to detail. Friendly, professional staff and can recommend it without hesitation - so much choice !
