One of the few restaurants in the heart of Delhi that has always piqued the interest of people. Anime theme décor makes for a refreshing change. While it definitely serves some of the best sushi in NCR, it is the latest feather in the cap is the 'Poke Bar'. A meal in a bowl concept that allows you to eat deconstructed 'Sushi' (if you wish) to soul-affirming ramen bowls that are just absolutely the rage around the world. Of course, you need to order the 'Edamame Sea Salt' because no visit to Guppy is complete without it and the same goes for the 'Pork Belly' which is glazed with a 'Miso Mustard Sauce'. The 'Chicken Ramen' is excellent too but if you are looking to go old school Guppy.
Ramen : Tried the Ramen Bowls at Guppy By Ai I was told that the Chicken Paitan Ramen was one the best and their hottest selling Ramen but the Cha Shu Ramen - their signature Ramen with Pork Belly was the best for me. The meat was well cooked and the broth was very rich with bangs of flavour. You can try their special spicy sauce if you up for a spice challenge 😉 Sushi : love their sushi , one of the best in delhi Cocktail - Tried the wasabi cocktail, it’s pretty strong in taste. Go for it if you like the flavour of wasabi Dessert - their chocolate lava cake is super yummm, soft and goey. Very comforting dessert. Must Try . . #ramenmecrazy #social_cravings #socialcravingeats #foodblogger
Didn't appreciate how good this place was until we'd travelled round India a bit more. Near-authentic Japanese food - not cheap, but my set lunch was defo worth the money (more than the ramen my partner ordered). Even included petit fours! Plenty of veggie options too which Japanese places don't always have. Nice decor and service that was pitched at the right level. Highly recommended place in New Delhi.
This used to be one of my favourite Japanese restaurants, however, it as really deteriorated. The service was slow and instructions were not followed. My wife ordered the vegetarian sushi without the sesame and the sushi came with the sesame. I think she repeated her "no sesame" instructions three times and still they got it wrong. The Miso Cod was horrible to look at, it was overcooked and chewy, very poor. And it took ages for the food to come. Also, this restaurant no longer has an experience of fine dinning. You see the staff just lounging around, the sushi counter may be did not have the rice and the staff is carrying the rice from the main kitchen to the sushi counter in the middle of the restaurant, it just does not seem like the staff really card, they were just walking around listlessly. Poor experience, never coming back for sure.
The food is amazing you can have a brunch with alcohol menu or not for a standard price: 2275/1875 rupiahs You have a long list of food and they will serve you all of them. For us was too much food, but if you are starving it’s a perfect place, for a good price. Enjoy!!
Tucked away in a corner of Jor Bagh market, this is my secret haunt. The entrance from the archway and courtyard gives this place a real quaint feel. The food is outstanding, the ambience inside relaxing, but the service needs to catch up. I am a vegetarian, and have only ever ordered the starters - have tried ALL the starters by now - but never had room for main course. I do sneak in a bite of the apple and prune pie though, which is divine. I highly recommend the baked filo spring roll, and the Kale Gomae Salad. The veg california roll and asparagus tempura roll are both outstanding. Edamame last night was unbelievably good - perhaps helps to go when soy pods are in season. 6 starters and a dessert to share suffice for 4 people. And a karaffe of sake makes you smile.
Did you have any idea that a vibrant and quirky Japanese restaurant is tucked away in the lodhi road interiors. Between tailors and drycleaners lies a one of a kind Japanese themed joint. The place is visited often by gastro addicts and college students with acquired taste of authentic Japanese food. Guppy by Ai is unique in name itself. It is definitely memorable. Lodhi colony has been invaded by Japanese visitors and their local friends to remind them selves of home cooked food. The restaurant is designed to relax and linger over tempuras. Owners have used life size Japanese figurines to pep up the place by hanging them from the ceiling. Anime illustrations are painted on the wall to authenticate the place. And it all works. Reminds me on nippo. The restaurant is surprisingly airy and washed with pastel colours.
The restaurant has extended lunch and dinner menu separately so you are bombarded with options. In lunch they serve miso soup, seafood salad, mushroom gyoza, crispy soft shell crab, pork belly, tuna tataki and rock corn tempura. Sushi and sashimi is served too in most enticing way. Lunch mains have exotic teppanyaki vegetables, katsu curry rice, black cod, tenderloin cubed steak. In desserts you will find amazing blueberry crepes, apple and prune pie. The dinner menu starts with chashu ramen, beetroot & avocado tartar, takikomi rice, guppy house salad, asparagus tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, sushi platter, and guppy’s famous spider rolls. For next stop grilled tomato & scarmoza, grilled jumbo prawns, karashi vegetable casserole, garlic fried rice and prawn tempura udon. Sweet time will find red velvet cake, green tea & chocolate cake and much more. Steam buns and skewers are on the menu too.
No Japanese menu is complete without their national drink sake. Beside sake champagne, sparkling wine, guppy’s house concoctions like wasabi cocktails made of wasabi, gin and lime juice. Aperitifs, scotch, rum, vodka, beer, mocktails, Japanese tea, coffee are served too. Guppy by ai has set menu too so if you are confused then choose that to taste everything. The service of the restaurant is efficient and attentive. It’s a good place to have candle light dinners in lodhi road. So visit this unusual place soon without bothering about money. It is affordable and not too expensive.
