This was originally intended to be a homage to Casablanca (hence the name) but somewhere along the way they junked the idea and turned it into a pretty ordinary hotel bar. But it is pleasant, has interesting cocktails and thought has gone into the evolution of the snack menu.
his place has a nice retro feel to it and the music adds to the the same feel... went early the place was pretty much empty and the music soft...tried the pomegranate and lemon grass martini ..was nice (different )staff was helpful ....would have liked the music a bit louder for a pub/bar.
The Ricks Bar, now a veteran in itself, has a great variety of alcohols to offer along with some good food. Good old Western music played by a DJ and friendly staff adds to the enjoyment of the evening.
When staying at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi and you're looking for a place to unwind then Rick's is the go to spot. During the day it's quiet with only a few guests but as evening arrives, the music gets louder and a DJ comes on (with the music being heavy on classic 80s - rather odd). There's a large variety of cocktails to choose from or bottled and draft beer. We stuck with the local Kingfisher which we quite enjoyed (light and refreshing!). Prices are steep and made even more so by the Indian 28% tax on alcohol and the 10% service charge that is applied.
Looking for a quieter place to relax after dinner -this is The Place in the Taj Hotel! Drink selections are very good-but the standards - are excellent!! Attentive service-but not over-bearing or always trying to sell you more! ( at least when the older host is there -he is the picture of brittish service! On nights with music, you may want to select a more secluded seat - but it is possible - and smokers are sent to their own separate room.
Quick service, bar snacks, great cocktail menu. Very comfortable seating and beautiful mirrored walls.
Originally it was supposed to be a dedication to Casablanca but the management ditched the idea and just kept the name ‘Rick’s’. A part of The Taj Mahal Hotel, Mansingh Road, New Delhi, the pub is one of the classiest and most exclusive pub of the city. The location allows the pub to enjoy affluent clientele who can afford to drink at such posh place. The bar looks like any other classy hotel bar with brightly lit room and clever furniture. The elegance of the décor is for granted. The bar is the focal point of the room with all the bottles on display. Multiple styles of seating are designed all over the room. Your will find casual to formal to loner seating differentiated by the couches and smart chairs. The room is small but is decorated well. Saturday nights are the busiest with the young set filling the pub to the brim asking to be served.
Rick’s is a bar where you will expect great service and immense array of booze. The pub was one of the first to introduce flavoured vodka in the city and the trend caught on soon. The bar is stocked with tremendous amount of variety keeping the diverse clientele in mind. Due to the hotel’s foreign and important visitors the bar keeps up to date with their demands and tastes. You would find rare and unique labels that is preferred by the patrons with refined taste. The bar menu starts off with aperitifs, sherry, port, rare whisky, blended whisky, American whisky, Irish whisky, Japanese whisky, gin, vodka, tequila, rum, cognac and beers. The bartenders mix wonderful signature cocktails such as, Khali’s revenge (Grey goose, fresh lime, elder flower syrup with hint of bitters), Grassy Collins (Ketel, chiili, lemon grass, fresh lime, elder flower syrup, ginger ale), Rhum punch (Guava, orange juice, captain morgan, lime, kaffir lime, green chartreuse), Burnt orange bellini (Lime, sugar, orange flower water, champagne) etc.
The old school cocktails like penicillin, martini, bee’s knees, south side, mojito, mai tai, whisky sour, bloody mary, pegu club, manhattan, old fashioned, French 75 and margarita are crowd favourites. For munchers’ Asian marinated tofu, butter chilli oyster chicken wings, panko crusted crab fingers, baked shrimp toast, nachos, veg spring rolls, grilled prawns and frites, stir fried fish with lemon pepper sauce and braised bean curd, are available. Rick’s is expensive bar with lot of potential and superb ambience.
