These days many restaurants in Chandigarh are taking the middle path between a fine–dining space and a lounge. Looking to offer a casual style restaurant but with more inviting interiors is Rebelle. A fairly new arrival in Sector 7, the entrance might be blink and miss but it boasts of good interior space. There is a formal area as well as a lounge where greens – both faux and real- have been used as a decor element. The hookahs are displayed on the bar and seem to be a highlight of the place. The multi-cuisine menu brings in all the popular favourites. But there is an effort to include more than the usual. It was surprising to see the likes of ‘Cock-a-leekie’ soup and ‘Roast and pumpkin soup’ on the menu here. We relished the ‘Green Apple Salad’, a perfect summer salad. However, the ‘Roti Pe Boti’ – stir fried lamb chunks served on mini rotis - was heavy on the spice. If you are looking for something lighter, go for Ajwaini fish kebabs. In the main course, there are plenty of options and we settled for ‘Roast Chicken with Red Wine Jus’. The portion was good for two hungry diners and the chicken was juicy and well done. We found the service efficient and the servers are good with recommendations.
