This may well be India's best Japanese restaurant. Unlike Wasabi and the rest which all follow the Nobu tradition, Megu is more traditionally Japanese. Where it scores over the competition is in the quality of the cooking and the inventiveness of its chef. It is also in-your-face glamorous unlike, say, Wasabi, which is small and clubby.

We ate here 18 months ago and it was an exceptionally good meal, this time it was not as enjoyable. Most of the food was cold, both the rice dishes and 2 of the main courses. My wife's scallops were served a good 5 minutes before the rest of her meal which meant she had a choice of eating them on their own or waiting for the rest of her dinner to arrive. The service could not be faulted but given that we were looking forward to eating here so much it was a real anti climax. They did remove the cost of the cold rice but that was hardly the point. The setting is great and watching the open kitchen is fascinating but standards have clearly slipped.
We loved Megu! It's a stunning space, beautifully decorated, and the service and the food are exceptional! Lovely to see the chefs preparing the sushi right in front of you, delicious fresh fish and excellent cocktails!
Megu has not once disappointed us; it has an incredible atmosphere and the waiters are very attentive and observant of one's needs and desires. Of course, the food is nothing but outstanding and the tastes never cease to amaze us. The staff always makes us so comfortable and we have truly enjoyed our visits to Megu thanks to them.
This has got to be the best Japanese / oriental meal in India. Great setting, superb service and excellent food. The sushi rolls in particular were par excellence. Great variety for vegetarians too. Must visit while in Delhi

Megu, a quiet and highly esteemed restaurant is located at the back of Leela palace Hotel in Diplomatic Enclave in Chanakyapuri in New Delhi. Chanakyapuri, an affluent area where lot of diplomats live, is situated only at a distance of 14 km from Indira Gandhi International airport. Although New Delhi is known for its high-end exclusive restaurants the outstanding Megu restaurant is well known for its superb Japanese cuisine, intimate atmosphere, and highly impressive décor. The colourful and bright ambience of the restaurant is awesome and enticing. The walls are adorned with exquisitely designed layers of traditional kimono fabric. The columns in Megu are made of lustrous white porcelain with unending interlocking rice bowls and antique sake vases. The ornamental bell weighing nearly 500 kg hanging above the luminous Buddha, lends a unique aura to the area. Its shiny white leather seats with high backs, almost eleven feet, create a sophisticated environs for pre-dinner cocktails.

Food is cooked using sumibiaburiyaki, a distinct grilling technique where special kind of charcoal called bincho-tanand is used which is only available in Kyoto and is known for its superb purifying properties.
