Hotel Hindusthan International’s rooftop restaurant is a nice place to visit when you feel like sitting under starry skies, listening to ghazals, and gorging on some good old Indian comfort food. They only do buffets, so make sure you have built up an appetite before you go here. Their ‘hung curd’ kababs – juicy and creamy – and their murg-e-chaap marinated in a savoury brown cashew nut and onion paste come recommended. They also offer a lot of Bengali specialties such as fish patrani and a Calcutta-origin ‘mellow’ biryani replete with soft pieces of potato. For dessert, do not miss their lovely ‘baked’ versions of desi sweets, such as rasgullas and mihidana topped with oodles of rabri.
