The rather great and ambitious Desi Chinese restaurant project has flourished mainly because we all love Chinese so much. The restaurant has a real upmarket feel that offers a great dining experience. The service can get a bit slow but it catches up once the appetizers arrive. On a weekend, you will have to wait around 20 minutes to get a table. We tried the ‘Fried Chicken Dumplings’ which are really nicely made and they are quite spicy. Overall, the food here is indeed quite spicy so you may want to ask them to do it down a notch. The menu of soups is also quite interesting and we tried the ‘Crabmeat and Mushroom Soup’, a sublime broth with seafood and umami-like flavour at the end of it. All their soups are very nicely done and they are packed with flavour. The huge variety can really be confusing, there are over 20 options in each category. The desi Chinese style Chicken and Lamb curries are really nice and fancy here, of course the vegetarian is good too, nothing to feel left out. The desserts are really pleasing as well, the things you can always find at a Chinese restaurant. The ‘Lychee with Vanilla Icecream’ is nice and fresh, amongst others.
