There is another side of New Delhi besides from the corporate world. This side is infiltrated by youths and college going kids who make up a majority of the city’s trendy demographic. Vicinities around colleges and universities are especially choked by the small-time cafes primarily frequented by young student crowd. The best part about these cafes are that they are easy on pockets and still provide a generous value for money meal. Tucked into the busy student-heavy node of Satyaniketan is a quaint yet cheerful eatery generally known as ‘Uptown Café’. This youth-oriented café makes dining more fun by offering a fantastic crowd-pleasing menu and rambunctious live sports screening to keep their punters happy and occupied. The mood remains lively here throughout the week but becomes tad more noisy as the evening falls. A great place to hang out with friends for hours.

While there are upbeat hip-hop tunes playing in the background, browse through the eclectic menu of Uptown Café. You have a vast array of cuisines to choose from. Continental, Chinese, North Indian and Italian, all are explored here. Portions are huge, keep that in mind before ordering. Slurp on a thick oreo milkshake or a light refreshing mocktail before tackling the first course. Begin with, gosht seekh kebab, oyster fish, mushroom duplex, mint & lemon chicken, fattoush salad, ajwain fish tikka, cheese stuffed tandoori soya chap, basil chicken bruschetta and crispy corn pestelo. When it comes to the mains choose unusual dishes like, jungali maas, grill vegetable with tahini and couscous, butter chicken pizza, shredded lamb sriracha sauce, grill chicken spiced up sandwich, Up Town special veg burger and nimbu mirchi ka mutton.

There is plenty to be had. Even multiple trips to Uptown Café won’t be enough to cover the menu. Before saying adieu finish with a flavoured sheesha or a helping of scrumptious dessert. You have your pick between, phirni, brownie with chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream and rabri with shahi tukda. There is a lovely terrace section for you to lounge about in. Indoors, the décor is modern and cheerful. They have chosen to go with a sharp edgy look comprising of black and white furnishings. A pop of red in sofas acts as a much-needed contrast. Walls are covered with amusing slogans you can read between courses.
