There are only handful of coastal kitchens in Cyber hub which serves delicious south Indian cuisine to its customers. Though underrated coastal cuisine is a cuisine like no other. Fragrant curries with tempering of mustard, curry leaves and chillies can tempt any living soul. ‘Zambar’ a coastal kitchen doing just that has found a fan following at cyber hub, Gurgaon. The restaurant has gained a distinct character since it has hired filmmaker Arun Kumar to take over the kitchen. Chef Kumar has moved away from the run of the mill recipes and managed to infuse home-style dishes that have earned fame with the punters. He has played on his strength to target his native Kerala cuisine but has also done full justice to other regions as well. His food is traditional and reminds of beaches and fresh seafood laden with coconut oil. This instinctive cook has proved that love for food can hold no boundaries.


The casual look of the place smartens up with movie posters in southern languages. The menu is not very lengthy which is a smart decision. The importance is not variety but quality. The appetizers have vegetarian, seafood, meat and poultry options. Kerala fish fry, koli sukka varuval, chicken 65, chettinad urlai roast, fried calamari, lobster thoran, mysore bonda, mutton sukka and whole red snapper tawa roast are most amazing dishes. The mains will offer lot of variety. Kodi kurra, chicken chettinad, Malabar fish curry, pork vindaloo, avial, hyderabadi paneer badami, chettinad kaikari, fish mouly, lamb curry, prawn thokku, nandu puttu and chemeen curry are fragrant with spices and well made. Try some chef’s special too. Some of the signature dishes are tharavu roast duck, lamb chaamp, karimeen pollichathu and amma’s potato vegetable curry. Choose a platter to taste everything. The more traditional dosa, vadas, idlis are also part of the menu.


In rice try hyderabadi lamb biryani, curd rice, bisi bele huli anna and lemon rice. Malabar parota will accompany your curries superbly. In sweet department coconut jaggery pudding, payasam and rava kesari are the delicious counterparts. Zambar serves alcohol too with the food such as vodka, scotch, beer, wines and champagne. On pleasant days choose to sit on the patio. The place is very popular so book a table beforehand otherwise you will be in a long wait, especially on the weekends. In fifteen hundred bucks you will take a delicious trip to India’s coastal culinary detinations.
