Located in one of the scenic parts of the town, Al Makan, with beautiful views of the waterway, amphitheatre and Burj Al Arab, offers authentic local food to its diners. The use of wood on pillars and the Islamic architecture influences, such as the star-shaped fountain in the courtyard, give the interiors a very glamorous feel. They have an option of indoor dining as well as alfresco seating in the central courtyard. The traditional elements in the décor are the perfect translation of the food served here. Opt for the all-time favourite, and one of the classic dishes, the shish touk, which has succulent pieces of chicken marinated in a yoghurt dressing best enjoyed with a side of the delectable hummus served with pickled vegetables, olives and a bread basket. For vegetarians, the fatayer spinach is a must-try. It has a beautiful crumbly pastry with a flavoursome filling of spinach, spring onions, pine nuts and sumac. For the main course opt for the chicken biryani, served with perfectly fried chicken and yellow rice, with perfectly balanced flavours.
