The owner, Sarita Lakhmani, started out as a home baker over a decade ago and finally launched this 21-cover café cum bakery – a cosy little place with charming interiors, comfortable seating and a decidedly laid-back atmosphere – around Christmas, 2013. The place has already built quite a reputation, and on most evenings it is difficult to find a table. The bakery here dishes out a fantastic range of moist pastries (try the tiramisu slice), deliciously chewy nut corners, savoury turnovers, quiches and stuffed croissants; their brownie-in-a-bowl is a veritable crowd puller. The café menu has more wholesome numbers such as grilled chicken in red wine sauce, served with parsley rice and chicken tetrazzini. Plus, there is good old mud pie and Monte Carlo for desserts. But at Cocoa, the bakery is easily the star.
