I am yet to meet a person who dislikes the food at Rim Naam. A few fence sitters perhaps but that’s about it. A meal here deserves an occasion, although I would gladly walk in on a random evening as well. Begin with a salad (the 'Som Tam' is good here) and definitely try the 'Thod Man Koong Man Poo' (deep fried prawn and crab cakes served with a lovely plum sauce). For soup, the 'Tom Kha' (a coconut milk based soup with kaffir lime and Thai ginger) is perfect for a chilly evening. For mains, the 'Thai Red Curry with sticky Rice', and the stir-fried 'Bokchoy' and 'Green Asparagus' are my picks.
It's always great to eat at Rim Naam during your stay at the Oberoi, or if you want to try good Thai food in Bengaluru. I would advise booking a few days in advance as this restaurant is very popular and gets busy. Pad Thai is great, and the starters are all delicious. I can't eat too much spicy food so these were the things of which I ate the most. If you're really lucky you'll be there during a short storm and hear the rain coming down all around you whilst you're sheltered by the restaurant but outside so you can hear the downpour in its full force. Make sure you wear mosquito repellent if you are attractive to those little bugs as they like to hang out at this fancy restaurant as much as lovers of Thai food.
I had two dinners at Rim Naam while staying at the Oberoi Bengaluru. First off, the restaurant is situated in a lovely setting in the midst of a fragrant garden. Second, the food was delectable. I wasn't sure what to expect in Thai food in India, and if Rim Naam is an example of Thai cuisine in India, I am absolutely impressed! All the taste was just right and sumptuously fresh. The cocktails also featured fresh, local fruit and spices, with delicious results. And the service!! The staff at Rim Naam (and at the Oberoi in general) were the most gracious and thoughtful --- they made me feel truly welcomed and cared for. They deserve an award! I'd love to sit at Rim Naam and enjoy the lovely evening anytime.
My wife and I had dinner last Saturday at this restaurant. When we got there, a bit before their opening time and we're informed that the place was completely booked. Since we had driven from far away (if you've been to Bangalore before you'll understand) we decided to wait at the bar in case someone cancelled a reservation. To our surprise, less than 10 min later, Vignnesh, the waiter came to us to say they had arranged a table for us. This was just the first excellent surprise from the night. From the table, with an incredible view of the pond, to all the food, especially the duck and spring rolls, everything was just divine. I must again bring out Vignnesh. He is truly a master at the art of entertaining and suggest great dishes and combinations. Next time we go we won't even ask for a menu, just ask him to surprise us. His taste is exquisite and he knows what he's talking about. He has a very global look to the food and understands what foreigners are looking for taste wise. I can't wait to go back again. It was an excellent experience!
Garden restaurant with very good ambience. Definitely the best home made Ginger Ale I’ve ever had anywhere in the world!! The Red Wine Sangria is okayish - not that good actually. Tom Kha Soup - really good, but it has mushrooms so ask for it without the mushrooms if you don’t care for them. Papaya Salad - pretty good. Jasmine rice and Thai Green Curry Chicken - decent, but I’ve had better.
We had some great food , with super service the starting from salad itself in the main course we had fish and chicken and both the dishes are worthy of being repeated , not to talk of the visit to the restaurant .
What’s not to like about Thai food? The flavours are clean and fresh, creating a havoc on your palate. Savour the tanginess of kaffir lime, saltiness of fish sauce and sweetness of coconut milk and palm sugar. They then lift the dish by adding to it a bouquet of aromatics, for which Thai cuisine is synonymous with.
