Artistically modern keeping in check the grandiose old Portuguese structure is what appeals one as they enter. The matt grey colour scheme arrests one’s eyes - not something one is used to seeing adoring mansions of the past. But that is the beauty of what lies in store for this Modern Coastal interpretation at Mahe. Perch oneself at the bar and sign up for the 'Glad Rags Sheba from the Spiffy Dapper Classics' – a straight bourbon with apple, cinnamon, fresh lemon, cane juice and an egg white. A classical twist inspired by the Spiffy Dapper program in Singapore. Or go classical with the 'Gimlet' with a Goan craft gin with house lime cordial and fresh lime. Citrus flavours encircle the palate as one delves into the crispy okra with pickles. A hint of tang and spice makes all things nice. The idea is to savour the cocktails with thought-provoking small plates from the coast and let the flavour marry each other within. The grills are interesting, as one can choose their desired produce and the regional styled preparation. There is an equal weightage given to the vegetarian options and the 'Sri Lankan Tapioca' is a must sample. A great place for a private party either indoors or outdoors.
