This quaint, chic European café, The Pantry, nestled in the narrow by-lanes of Kala Ghoda, the art district of South Mumbai, bustles with life, offering a happy vibe. The natural light filtering into the café and the pastel décor, give it an added illusion of space making it comfortably expansive. Apart from an all-day breakfast menu, this place boasts of salads, artisanal sandwiches, mains, desserts and beverages. Fresh, seasonal produce is used here and evident from the flavours in the food. The croquet monsieur sandwich in multigrain bread, that I tried, was filling undoubtedly, but suffered from a cheese overload. The accompanying bacon jam was the scene stealer. Baked rawas in citrus vegetable stew with savoury bread pudding, with its subtle flavours and comforting stew, offered the right bite from the crunchy vegetables and melt-in-the-mouth rawas fillet. The moist vegan beetroot cake served warm and not overly sweet stands out in the dessert section. Amiable and well-informed staff, adds to the charm of this place. Duo of cheese waffles, flourless chocolate cake, carrot apple ginger juice, are popular choices.
