Chisptead is a bit of a smorgasbord; it still has the gentrified air of its predecessor with its muted dark walls, attracting slick suits and svelte dresses. Yet, with a glimmering curtain of beads, sultry velvet sofas and hip hop nights, you almost think it wants to be a nightclub for tattooed biceps and high heels. Perhaps the best outcome of this confusion is its cocktail menu – expansive but consistently outstanding drinks, at youthful prices, with a standard measure of 60 ml and inclusive of all taxes. The services is chatty and will happily recommend drinks from the exciting cocktail menu or let the bartender whip up something special. Their classics are top-notch but do try some of Chipstead’s best, such as the smoked whiskey-based drinks, the Chennai-esque Southern Spice or the classy bourbon-based Run for the Roses.
