United Coffee House harks back to a time when not many could access the finer things of life. Today dining out has been democratised beyond our wildest imagination and the restaurant stands testimony to these transformative experiences. Upholstered wall panels, vintage chandeliers and glass panelled doors transport you back to the days of the British Raj as frenetic Connaught Place recedes to a blur outside. Put up your feet in style on the plush leather sofas, even as you savour the old world charm of a bygone era. The restaurant opens its doors for breakfast and you have the option to choose anything from 'Cold Meats' and 'Baked Beans' to 'Stuffed Paranthas' and 'Mysore Dosa'. Despite the menu boasting of serious Continental main course items, the light bites offer a stiff competition.

With the moving time as most restaurants are heading towards the new and modern, there are some left grasping the old with both hands. Not everyone is rushing to transform themselves into another contemporary reproduction. Few are holding back to what they call their vintage best. It has maintained it’s original décor the way it was in 1942 when it opened its doors for the first time. Sprawled on ground floor level in Connaught Place, New Delhi, this famous coffee house is an oldie but a good one. It still has a huge base of longstanding patrons coming in religiously for their coffee fix.
