Glimmering chandeliers and starched table cloths cut through the plush piano-black décor at the two-levelled On the Rocks. The lower lounge is for chit-chat over wine-paired small plates, before you climb up for serious dining. Indeed, you must understand the gravity of the situation when they caution you to not touch the heated lava rocks. After you select your choice of protein (there are some fancy cuts here), the tabletop DIY comes as a set meal including soup, sides and a dessert. On the Rocks takes its á-la-carte fine dine options with unusual gravitas for Chennai, however, despite the world-class produce, the dishes lack pizzazz. Recommended dishes are the baked camembert and the flambé crème brûlée.
