INSIDER TIPS

  • The nicest tables are outside the portico, on the main grounds. Service is a pain here and the mosquitos are menacing in the evening, but this is the best coffee spot around Khan Market
  • The cafe is not owned by Taj. It is outsourced to Baba’s Beans, a Delhi-based speciality roastery. Prices, however, match Taj standards
  • Also, on offer are 'Cold Brews' and 'Espresso' - variations. Tea lovers are limited to 'Masala Chai' and 'Green Tea'

It is one of my greatest peeves that some of the best hotels in town never caught onto the hipster coffee movement. While many cafes and restaurants started offering outstanding brews made with homegrown coffee, you are usually stuck with 'Elle' at twice the price. Well, not at Baba’s Beans Coffee Bar in Taj Ambassador. Get your coffee brewed from single-estates beans sourced from Araku Valley or Chikmagalur in a French Press or a Vacuum Siphon. Sadly, the only thing you can munch on apart from the complimentary 'Biscotti' are moist 'Chocolate Muffins'.
