La Terrazza is one of the very few Tattorias (casual Italian diners) in town. The ambience, however, is an odd mix of the quintessential ‘homeliness’ of charming red checkered tablecloths, old spice jars, wild flowers, and an open kitchen; and the fine-dine opulence of fine wine and haute cuisine. As you swill down a glass of Chardonnay, order small plates of assorted bruschetta, tenderloin carpaccio with parmesan shavings or an assorted cold cuts platter. Once these are polished off, a pizza, handmade pasta, or even a calzone would be easy to move onto, but if you are in the mood to experiment, try the almond-crusted baby lamb shoulder with truffle-scented creamy polenta – crackly covering concealing tender meat beneath – delectable! The slow-cooked duck leg and grilled duck breast with zucchini roesti and grape sauce is also exquisite.
